THE STORY OF SANKO HOLDING


SANKO Holding has over 14.000 employees in 11 different business sectors. Its primary goal is to keep investing for more production capacity and more employment in order to serve the national interests of Turkey, as it has since the beginning of the 20th century. The principals of its late founder Mr. Sani Konukoğlu and the legacy of his resolute personality have been determining factors in Sanko Holding’s success

2011

Yokuşlu - Kalkandere Hydroelectric Plants (41 MW) began producing electricity.

2010

Cevizlik Hydroelectric Plant (100 MW) began producing electricity.
Sanibey Dam and Hydroelectric Plant (317 MW) began producing electricity.
Sanko Machinery Production Plant began production.

2009

SANKORES Çatalca Wind Turbine (60 MW) began producing electricity.
Sanko Park Shopping Mall was completed.

2007

Sanko Energy Production, Inc. was founded.
Construction began on Sanibey Dam and Hydroelectric Plant.
Narlı Cement began production in December.

2006

Construction began for Narlı Cement Factory.

2005

Bartın Cement Factory was acquired through privatization tender.

2001

Sanko Private School was founded.
Akora Technology Marketing, Inc. was founded.

2000

Soft Towel, Inc. was founded.

1999

Sansu Food and Soft Drink Inc. was founded.

1997

Gaziantep Ytong Inc. was founded.

1996

Private Sani Konukoğlu Hospital was founded.
Sanko Group of Companies incorporated under SANKO Holding.

1995

Adıyaman Cement factory was acquired through privatization.

1994

        Mr. Abdulkadir Konukoğlu was named the new President of the Board of Directors after the passing of his father, founder of SANKO, Mr. Sani Konukoğlu.
Pure Cotton Textile, Inc. was founded.

1993

Süper Film Inc. was founded.

1992

Sanko Marketing Import Export company was founded.

1989

         Sani Konukoğlu Foundation was established in order to undertake corporate social responsibility and community support projects.

1985

Founding of Asko Textile.

1983

Founding of Isko Textile.

1977

        Hilal, Inc. has been transformed into SANKO Textile, the first syllables of its founders first and last names.
1974
The capacity of the factory was increased to 30.000 spindles.

1966

Founding of the Hilal, Inc.

1963

Founding of the cotton yarn factory with 1.500 spindles.

1962

Founding of the hydrophilic cotton factory.

1947 - 1953

        Sani Konukoğlu increased production by acquiring a 24- chamber bobbin machine, a 4- shuttle loom for checked shirt fabrics, and a finishing machine.

1943

        Having completed primary school, Zekeriye Konukoğlu’s son, Sani began working for his father in the textile business.

1935

The number of people employed by Zekeriye Konukoğlu reached 70.

1926

Zekeriye Konukoğlu increased the number of looms.

1904

         The foundations of the Holding were laid by the 7 hand-looms that were acquired by the founder and great-grand father Mr. Sani Konukoğlu. The textile business was later run by his son Zekeriye Konukoğlu.
